2nd Half Summer Term 2018
What a fun arts week we have had! To start the week with such an interesting trip was wonderful. Thank you to the parent helpers who came along and helped make the trip such a success. Children across the school and also in Class 2 really showed the best of Otterton in their behaviour and work while visiting the Aquarium in Plymouth.
Tuesday started out incredibly messy as we used PVA glue to make a paste with which to make papier mache. While we have not yet completed the project (it will be displayed in Church as it is linked to our learning in RE in due course) the children all enjoyed getting their hands dirty.
Our other projects this week were a mixed media piece inspired by our class text of 'George's Marvellous medicine'. We also made our own version of one of the tanks at the aquarium filled with crabs and squid.
Throughout the week children have been using pencils, pastels and watercolours to develop their skills in art in a variety of mediums. Work will be displayed next week on our Food display.
We have also started country dancing and are looking forward to sharing this with the community next week.
1st Half Summer Term 2018
Class 2 began the week by creating their hats for Mad Hatters 2018 with Mrs Foster. Our inspiration this year was the Queen's birthday as you can see in the pictures below.
In our maths this week Year 2 began work on fractions and other key objectives while Year 3 began work on multiplicative reasoning.
Our new literacy text is 'A day in the life of Bob. The man on the moon.' Children enjoyed helping Bob spot aliens this week before writing a diary entry about how exhausting his job looking after the moon is.
In RE we completed our work on Easter.
Next week we will continue our units in maths and literacy while begining our new topic, 'Food, glorious food.'
