The children have been learning about forces in science this term. Today the children finished making parachutes of different sizes to see how size (surface area) impacted on air resistance. The children chose their own shape but made two (or three) different sizes. They considered what (controlled) variables they needed to keep the same in order to make it a fair test. On each occasion, the larger shape was second/slowest to hit the group. The children decided this was because they created a larger air resistance force, slowing the parachute down.
