Across both schools we have a wonderful pool of teaching and support staff, from which (based on their expertise and current stage in their teaching careers) teachers have put themselves forward for consideration to become a part of the new leadership structure. Consequently, I am thrilled to announce the Raleigh Federation leadership team. Headed up by myself, it comprises a team made up of Mrs Beky Stannard (SENCO), Mrs Claire Appleby (Literacy Co-ordinator) and Mrs Anne Whiteford (Maths Co-ordinator).
The Governing Body and I throughout the Autumn Term considered various leadership structures. This model of a team of middle leaders has been chosen as it maximizes the opportunities for the collaborative working of all of our members of staff, in a true team approach, as opposed to a “silo” model where a “leader” in each school operates in a more isolated way.
In our model, all members of the leadership team will have some dedicated non-contact time and will be the first “port of call” for questions when I am in the other school. Also each member of the team will spend some time in the other school to the one in which they are based as a class teacher. Fundamental aspects of the leadership team’s role involve evaluating aspects of the schools’ performance and developing and implementing strategies for improvement, as we continually strive towards excellence in the education of your children. I am sure that you will look forward to seeing more of the members of the leadership team on the school playgrounds, at school or class events and in more formal contexts such as meetings and appointments.
